Livestock Shipping:

Blue Zoo ships livestock nationwide, year-round using FedEx exclusively.

Shipping Method - To minimize stress and to ensure optimum health, all livestock is shipped FedEx Priority Overnight. FedEx Priority Overnight service guarantees that any shipment will be delivered anywhere in the country by 10:30am the next day (rural areas excluded). For more information please see Shipping Information/FedEx or go to www.fedex.com for a detailed explanation of Priority Overnight shipping procedures and policies.

In the rare event that we need to use more than one box for your order, an additional $14.95 per box will be charged. You will be informed of any additional charges before they are processed in the form of an email to the address used during checkout. The general rule of thumb is livestock orders less than $300.00 can be fit into one box. Some large fish and most x-large through jumbo sized fish will ship in their own shipping boxes. So, if you order three jumbo sized tangs for instance, know that each one will ship in its own box and you will be informed of the additional box charges.

FedEx Hold Facilities - To reduce stress on livestock and as a convenience to our customers, Blue Zoo endorses the use of qualified FedEx Hold Facilities as your shipment destination. You must provide us with the address, so to find your nearest hold facility, please go to www.fedex.com/us/dropoff.

Saturday Delivery - FedEx does deliver Priority Overnight packages on Saturday but not all zip codes qualify for Saturday Delivery service. Also, Standard Overnight packages can often be picked up from FedEx hold facilities. Please make sure that this service is available in your area before making the selection. To see if any Saturday service is available in your area, please go to www.fedex.com/us/services/options/saturday.html. Note that for all Saturday deliveries, a $15.00 will be charged per box and that this fee is what FedEx charges us.

Departure Time - In an effort to reduce the amount of time that livestock spends in transit, we have worked with FedEx to secure the last possible pickup time at the end of each shipping day which is usually between 4:30-5:00pm PST.

Tracking Information - A tracking number will be emailed to you with information confirming the location and time your package will arrive. Tracking information is sent by email from FedEx (not Blue Zoo). You will receive your tracking number about one hour after shipments depart from our facility which is usually between 4:30-5:00pm PST.

Please remember that during checkout you will asked to choose the exact date you would like your order delivered. This date can be up to two weeks from time your order is placed. Because we work from a live inventory system, this ensures that you will not miss out on an item you are interested in because you cannot take delivery right away. You may also add whatever you like to your current order after it is placed. Simply call 1-888-479-2583 or email customerservice@bluezooaquatics.com. Shipping Livestock To Hawaii

In order for us to ship to Hawaii, the customer must obtain a permit from the Hawaii State Department of Agriculture. The permit application form can be found online at this URL: https://hdoa.hawaii.gov/pi/files/2012/12/pq-7_fillable.pdf. Be sure to first check the list of fishes approved for import to Hawaii. You can find that list here: https://hdoa.hawaii.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Chap.-4-71-HAR-List-of-Conditionally-Approved-Animals-1.pdf.

There are two types of permits. The first is a one shipment permit, and, as the name implies, is limited to one shipment (although it is fine to have multiple fish in the shipment). If the applicant would like to import fishes one time, he or she must specify the fishes’ names, the number of fishes being imported, and the shipper on the permit application. There is a $5 recording fee for the one shipment permit.

The second type of permit is for multiple shipments. This means that the applicant may be able to import multiple shipments from multiple U.S. addresses. The permit is valid for one year, and if the applicant thinks he or she will be importing multiple shipments, this is definitely the way to go. With the multiple shipment permit, the applicant does not need to specify the fishes names, quantity, and shipper on the permit application. There is $50 recording fee for the multiple shipment permit.

The applicant should plan on approximately 10 business days for either permit to be approved. Permits should be submitted via postal mail or in person to the following address:

If the applicant has any questions, he or she can call the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture at 808 832-0566. Once the permit is approved the applicant will receive a packet in the mail containing the permit and a list of approved animals.

Blue Zoo Aquatics uses FedEx exclusively for all livestock and aquarium supplies shipments. In addition to the benefits of FedEx' outstanding reputation and quality service, by consolidating our buying power with a single shipping company we are able to expedite information requests and facilitate rapid solutions to problems when they arise.

Blue Zoo Aquatics utilizes the following FedEx services for shipments:

Fedex Priority Overnight - This option is the standard shipping method for live animals. For additional fees, aquarium supplies can also be ordered using this method but they must be shipped separately from live goods.

FedEx performs Priority Overnight service according to the following criteria:

  • Delivery time is next business day by 10:30am to most areas
  • By noon, 4:30 or 5:00pm to some rural areas
  • Available throughout all 50 states (we do not ship livestock to Hawaii. Alaska and Puerto Rico residents will have additional shipping charges applied to their orders. Call for details)
  • Monday-Friday. Saturday delivery available in some areas

Fedex Standard Overnight - The Standard Overnight option can be selected for shipping aquarium supplies, however, additional fees do apply.

FedEx performs Standard Overnight service according to the following criteria:

  • Delivery time is next business day by 3:00pm to most areas
  • By noon, 4:30 or 5:00pm to some rural areas
  • Available throughout all 50 states
  • Monday-Friday. Saturday delivery available in some areas

FedEx Second Day Air - This option is the standard shipping method for Live Rock and Live Sand. It can also be selected as an option for aquarium supplies; however, additional fees do apply.

FedEx performs Second Day Air service according to the following criteria:

  • Delivery time is 2 business days by 4:30pm to most areas
  • 3 business days to some rural areas
  • Available throughout all 50 states
  • Monday-Friday. Saturday delivery available in some areas

FedEx Ground - All aquarium supplies orders will be shipped FedEx Ground unless a more expedient service is selected and paid for by the customer.

FedEx performs Ground service according to the following criteria:

  • Delivery time is 1-5 business days by the end of the business day
  • Delivery is day-definite and based on the distance to the destination
  • Available throughout all lower 48 states and Alaska (does not apply to Hawaii or Puerto Rico)
  • Monday-Friday. No Saturday delivery available

Aquarium Supplies Shipping:

Blue Zoo ships aquarium supplies nationwide, year-round using FedEx exclusively.

Shipping Method - To reduce shipping costs, all aquarium supplies are shipped FedEx Ground unless you select an expedited service when the order is placed (additional charges apply). Aquarium supplies orders that are shipped FedEx Ground will be delivered Monday through Friday. Other services can be selected that include Saturday delivery or pickup, but this is not available to all areas and additional charges apply. In many cases, FedEx Ground delivers within three to five business days but this is not guaranteed. Most shipments arrive by 4pm but this can vary depending on weather and location. Please see Shipping Information/FedEx for more information or go to www.fedex.com for detailed an explanation of ground shipping procedures and policies.

Saturday Delivery - FedEx Ground does not offer a Saturday delivery option. Unless Priority Overnight or Standard Overnight service is selected and paid for when an order is placed, no aquarium supplies will be delivered or picked up on Saturday. Please make sure that these services are available in your area before making the selection. Please see shipping information for service details and links. Note that for all Saturday deliveries, a $15.00 will be charged per box and that this fee is what FedEx charges us.

Tracking Information - All tracking numbers will be emailed to you to confirm the location and time your package will arrive. Tracking information is sent by email from FedEx (not Blue Zoo). Returns - We recommend contacting the manufacturer first on any warranty issues. Most manufacturers prefer to handle their own warranties and it usually concludes in a quicker turn around for you. If a product does need to be returned to us, please call us at 888-479-2583 within 30 days for a return authorization number. Mark the return authorization number on the outside of the package very clearly. Items received without a return authorization number or after the 30 day time limit, will not be processed. Customer is responsible for return shipping and insuring said package. For non-defective items, a 10% re-stocking fee will be assessed.

Shipping Aquarium Supplies With Livestock Orders:

Here at Blue Zoo Aquatics the Livestock and Aquarium Supplies are different departments and usually are separated within an order. There are instances, however, when we are able to ship Aquarium Supplies with your livestock order, saving you the extra shipping charges. We can ship a few items in with your livestock depending on what it is, a few small bottles of additives, small cans of food, medications, other small items are great items. Large items, heavy items, light bulbs, electrical components are not good items to ship with livestock.

Here is the trick to getting your drygoods (aquarium supplies) shipped with your livestock. After choosing your livestock items and your drygood items and are ready to check out, continue through the steps of check out and make sure to pay with a credit card instead of PayPal (so we can remove any shipping charges) and write in the Customer Comments section that you would like the drygoods shipped with your livestock.

After we receive the order, it will be reviewed and we will determine if the drygoods are able to ship with the livestock safely (and not increase the original box size). We will contact you if there are and difficulties, otherwise expect to receive the drygoods with your livestock order. If some aquarium supplies that you ordered are out of stock, we can delay your order a day or two, ship the aquarium supplies ground (at normal shipping rates), or remove them from the order and you won't be charged for that item. With PayPal orders, we can only can delay your order a day or two or ship the aquarium supplies ground (at normal shipping rates).

All orders that request to have aquarium supplies shipped with livestock MUST be paid by credit card and NOT PayPal. Here's why.... credit card orders are only authorized when the order is placed online and changes (like shipping charges removed) can be made to the order and the final charge will be made at time of ship out, PayPal on the other hand charges the invoice in full from your account when the order is placed and that order is locked in with the total dollar amount. We can still ship aquarium supplies with livestock on PayPal orders, but the shipping charges will not be removed.

Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Shipping:

All food items that need to be kept frozen or refrigerated are handled much like livestock orders. In order to preserve the nutritional value of all our frozen and refrigerated foods, these products ship by default via Priority Overnight. The shipping and handling charge is $29.95 per order so it is more economical to purchase all frozen and refrigerated foods in bulk. This charge covers the ice pack and Styrofoam box charges as well as overnight delivery. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship the frozen food with your livestock order because we are trying to keep the frozen food really cold and trying to keep the livestock from getting cold.
